The 2012 World Chess Championship took place in Moscow, Russia in the Engineering Building of the State Tretyakov Gallery between World Champion Viswanathan Anand and the winner of the Candidates Match Boris Gelfand from Israel under the auspices of FIDE. The match
was played from May 10 thru May 31, 2012 with a 12 games
format. Tie-breaks will be played on May 30 if required. The time controls
were 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, adding 60 minutes after move 40, and adding 15 minutes with an increment of +30 seconds per move after move 60.
Anand defeats Gelfand by 8.5 to 7.5. |
