Hi,

On your page (Chess Quiz Level 1) you state that there are twenty possible ways to open a game.

If so, are they legal moves and do all of them have opening names?

Dear viewer,

At the beginning of a game, white has 20 possible first moves and all of them are legal moves, of course.

Also, those 20 moves have opening names.

The names are as follows:

01.  a2-a3........ Anderssen's Opening
02.  a2-a4........ Ware Opening
03.  b2-b3........ Nimzowitsch-Larsen Attack
04.  b2-b4........ Orang-Utan Opening
05.  c2-c3........ Saragossa Opening
06.  c2-c4........ English Opening
07.   d2-d3........ Mieses Opening
08.  d2-d4........ Queen's Opening
09.  e2-e3........ Van't Kruys Opening
10.  e2-e4......... King's Opening
11.  f2-f3........... Barnes' Opening
12.  f2-f4........... Bird's Opening
13.  g2-g3......... Benko Opening
14.  g2-g4......... Grob Opening
