On the question “How many pieces does a player have at the start of the game?”, the correct answer is given as 16.
That total obviously includes Pawns, which are not the same as pieces.

Although Queens and Rooks are called major pieces, Bishops and Knights are minor pieces, and the rest are called Pawns, it is
clear that we meant the 16 chessmen units each player starts with.
